About The Position

The General Maintenance Worker performs work in the maintenance, care, and modification of agency grounds and facilities which includes the operation of electrically-powered and gasoline-powered equipment and machines and the use of small hand and power tools or equipment. Responsibilities

  • Respond each workday to maintenance needs as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or designee.
  • Be on call, when asked, for emergency situations which may arise in maintenance of agency buildings and vehicles.
  • Have a working knowledge of agency policies and procedures as they relate to maintenance and safety.
  • Maintain facility grounds. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining the lawns and lawn equipment, including sprinklers, and snow removal as needed. Exercise safe and effective use of herbicides and insecticides.
  • Assist with gardening and farming.
  • Pool maintenance, maintain the pool according to health department standards, and exercise safe and effective use of pool chemicals.
  • Assist with energy efficiency as needed.
  • Complete purchase orders and turn in with receipts, invoices, and time cards.
  • Turn in Maintenance Reports as requested by supervisor.
  • Work with program employees and residents on projects as assigned and approved by the Director of Operations.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Build or repair structures in repair setting.
  • Install doors, wood floors, window frames, trim, or stairs.
  • Install insulating materials.
  • Install locks, hinges, and related finish hardware.
  • Install or replace glass in windows, skylights, or other structural surfaces.
  • Install shingles, tile, slate, asphalt, or related roofing materials.
  • Install/string electrical or electronic cable or wiring.
  • Lay or install brick, block, stone, tile, or related masonry material.
  • Paint walls or other structural surfaces.
  • Prepare building surfaces for paint, finishes, wallpaper, or adhesives.
  • Repair cracks, defects, or damage in installed building materials.
