About The Position

United Health Services (UHS) is seeking a General Maintenance Technician to support the daily operations of our senior living facility. In this role, you’ll perform a variety of routine maintenance tasks to help ensure a safe, comfortable, and well-functioning environment for our residents, staff, and visitors. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current driver license

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repair tasks in carpentry, plumbing, painting, masonry, and basic electrical work to maintain facility buildings and grounds
  • Complete routine building operations and minor renovations as assigned to support the safety and functionality of the facility
  • Carry out grounds keeping tasks such as mowing lawns, raking leaves, trimming shrubs, collecting litter, and sweeping walkways
  • Respond to maintenance service requests from staff or residents in a timely and courteous manner
  • Serve as a permanent member of the snow removal team, including on-call coverage during winter months; ensure safe walkways and access points
  • Inspect and maintain tools, vehicles, and maintenance equipment to ensure proper functioning and availability
  • Assist with seasonal preparation tasks such as storm water management, landscaping changes, or holiday setups
  • Support event and facility setup by moving furniture, assembling equipment, and preparing common spaces as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and service schedules
  • Adhere to OSHA, NYS Department of Labor, and all UHS safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment
  • Monitor building systems and report signs of damage, malfunction, or safety concerns to appropriate personnel
  • Communicate clearly with coworkers, supervisors, and residents to ensure prompt service and minimize disruption to daily operations
