About The Position
The General Helper will work in all three departments of our bakery, including Production, Packaging, and Sanitation. This role is responsible for assisting with various tasks in each department to ensure that our bakery runs smoothly and efficiently. The General Helper will work closely with our production team, packaging team, and sanitation team to ensure that we meet our production goals, maintain our high standards of quality, and ensure a safe and clean working environment. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the production of baked goods by performing various tasks, such as putting pans on the line, catching pans at the end of the oven. Assist with packaging finished products, including labeling, boxing, and palletizing, ensuring that all products are properly packaged according to customer specifications. Assist with sanitation duties, including cleaning equipment, tools, and machinery to ensure a safe and clean working environment. Follow all safety rules and regulations, including wearing the appropriate PPE, such as gloves, safety glasses, and bump cap. Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and instructions provided by the department supervisor. Perform other duties as assigned by the department supervisor. Compensation and Benefits: This is a union position, and the pay rate will be based on the collective bargaining agreement. Job Duties: Load the oven Fill bakery racks with bread/bun pans Physically move bread/bun racks in and out of proof box Physically push/pull pan carts over to bread/bun conveyor Load and unload empty pans both on and off conveyor Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
- Capable of working in high heat environment.
- Willingness to learn food safety and sanitation.
- Must be able to communicate and work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
- Capable of following safe work practices.
- Capable of working in a fast paced environment.
- Must complete post offer background check, post offer physical, drug/alcohol screen and lifting assessment.
- Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift/carry bread/bun pans - up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to push bread/bun pan carts to conveyor
- Capable of performing repetitive work
- Must be able to tolerate working in a hot humid environment
