About the Position: This position is located with Defense Health Network West, as the Chief Health Informatics Officer for the Defense Health Network 3 supported by the Defense Health Agency. A licensed or board-certified clinician preferred, but not required. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

• Basic Requirement for General Health Science (Chief Health Informatics Officer): Degree: Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
• In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing policies or procedures for health information systems and/or clinical software; assessing healthcare organizational processes to identify improvements in healthcare delivery services; and providing guidance or advice to senior leadership in a healthcare related setting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Responsibilities

• Report directly to the Network Director and serves as the clinical subject matter expert in the complex field of health informatics, electronic health record and health care data analytics.
• Assist with long-term planning within the Defense Health Network.
• Work independently in accordance with methods and practices of the Defense Health Agency health informatics community, as well as local and Command to established policies and operating procedures.
• Work across multiple clinical venues providing consistent support and messaging with the goal of integrating new clinical, business and information technology solutions within the Defense Health Network.
• Provide direct support to the leadership in Health Informatics.
• Directly responsible for supervising health informatics personnel.
