Plans, schedules, coordinates and supervises the construction, maintenance and repair of the city's asphalt streets, driveways, walkways, etc. throughout the city's rights-of-ways; oversees functions of street sweeper program and operation of the Concord Road facility; inspects the quantity and quality of all work productions; responds to and investigates citizen requests, schedules priorities; determines type of material and equipment needed to complete jobs; makes recommendations on projects, employee selection, promotions and terminations; conducts employee evaluations and counseling; keeps records of activities, performance, supplies used and accident reports; assists foreman in training of subordinate staff; responsible for employee safety training. Must be available to work Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 pm; overtime and different shifts when necessary. Works outside in all kinds of weather; exposed to constant/extreme noise; works in trenches/ditches and all around mechanical, electrical, explosive, fume/odor, dust and vapor hazards; subject to 24 hour call-out in emergency situations. Position considered essential during emergency situations.
