About The Position

The Post F/G Assistant is responsible to the machine Operator for the day-to-day safe operation of the J & L Specialty Gluer. The Assistant is able to demonstrate a basic understanding of mechanical functions of the machine and displays a good amount of trouble-shooting ability. Assistant understands basic principles of corrugated, flutes, and corrugation direction. Also, the Assistant must have the mechanical ability to understand the various attachments used at the J & L, including picks, plows, Accu-Fold system, folding swords, etc. The machine assistant helps in the set up of all sections of the machine and stacker sections, as directed by the Operator. Ensures the quality of the finished product produced at the machine. Assures that productivity and throughput levels are maintained at the machine. Responsible for assisting in run rate improvements, quality improvements and downtime elimination at the machine center. Responsible for learning all of the associated order paperwork, reports, as well as HRMS feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety rules and procedures; watch out for self and team member’s safety at all times.
  • Follow lock out and tag out, and MSK procedures; always use personal protective equipment (safety glasses, ear plugs, steel toed shoes & safety vest, others as required).
  • Understand and carry out housekeeping standards.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and resolve issues effectively and professionally.
  • Be capable of running machine at safe speeds and top quality to meet customer needs.
  • Demonstrate ability to detect, prevent, and resolve quality issues, involving Operator or management for resolution of issues or confirming quality expectations as needed.
  • Be able to read a standard tape measure, read and thoroughly understand job specifications, and follow written and oral directions.
  • Be a self-starter, able to operate from directions or independently as needed
  • Demonstrate ability to add and subtract all units of measure read and copy figures, and count and record figures.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in English in written or oral form and to deal with problems.
  • Be willing and able to work daily and weekly overtime, including weekends, as business conditions require.
  • Be willing and able to follow the Operator’s directions to insure the most efficient operation possible
  • Be able to learn the Operator’s position so that continuous run processes can be established, as needed
  • All other duties as assigned
