About The Position

The UT Health Science Center College of Dentistry in Memphis is seeking a highly motivated General Dentist to join the Department of Diagnostic Sciences as a full­time Open Rank Professor. The successful candidate must be licensable in Tennessee and will play a critical role in advancing the department's mission of excellence in education and patient care.

Requirements

• DDS, DMD, or equivalent.
• Strong clinical skills in oral diagnosis and management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
• Ensure high-quality teaching that is integrated, innovative, evidence-based, and compliant with CODA accreditation standards.
• Active or eligible for a dental license in Tennessee.

Nice To Haves

• Prior teaching experience in a dental school setting is preferred but not required.
• Strong track record of excellence in teaching, service, patient care, research, and scholarship preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the clinical activities of predoctoral students in diagnosis, oral medicine, oral radiology, health data collection, and related disciplines.
• Develop and deliver innovative teaching materials and methods to enhance student learning outcomes.
• Mentor and advise students.
• Oversee and guide students in clinical settings, ensuring high standards of patient care.
• Diagnose and manage oral health conditions, including systemic conditions with oral manifestations.
• Integrate evidence-based practices into course content and clinical training.
• Opportunities to engage in scholarly activities such as research, publications, or presentations at professional conferences.
• Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and other service activities within the college and university.
