About The Position

Children’s Mercy Kansas City is seeking a board-eligible/certified child neurologist to join a growing group of 21 faculty in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neurology, which includes 4.5 epileptologists and 14 Nurse Practitioners. The division is committed to clinical excellence, education, and research and is continuing to grow. Children’s Mercy offers competitive salaries and benefits, and faculty members are affiliated with and hold academic rank at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. The division operates a Level IV comprehensive pediatric epilepsy center with a 12-bed EMU, a large ketogenic diet program, active Epilepsy Surgery and Intra-Operative-Monitoring (IOM) programs, and a Comprehensive Headache program utilizing novel approaches such as acupuncture, biofeedback, and in-clinic DHE infusions. It also hosts a Pediatric Tourette Center of Excellence, a successful pediatric DBS program within a growing movement disorder program, and numerous subspecialty multidisciplinary programs covering areas like neonatal neurology, pediatric stroke, neuro-immunology, TS/NF, Dravet syndrome, Angelman syndrome, mitochondrial disorders, and spasticity. Research collaborations are maintained with the Genomic Medicine Center and the Division of Clinical Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Therapeutic Innovation. The division also supports robust pediatric resident and fellowship programs, including child neurology residency, clinical neurophysiology, headache, and neuropsychology fellowships. Children's Mercy has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a top pediatric hospital for eleven consecutive years and is located in Kansas City.

Requirements

  • Board-eligible or board-certified child neurologist
  • Demonstrate strong clinical skills
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a large, multidisciplinary team

  • Willing to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005
  • Receive the seasonal influenza vaccine as a condition of employment
  • Supply immunization records as proof of vaccination
  • Pass a criminal background investigation
  • Pass a drug screen upon hire
