About The Position

The General Assembly Technician III is a senior, multi-skilled technician responsible for complex mechanical, electrical, and body integration assemblies. This role serves as a technical expert on the production floor, handling advanced troubleshooting, resolving fit and function issues, and supporting production flow during constraints or bottlenecks. The Technician III plays a key role in quality containment, root cause identification, and workforce development while acting as a backup lead when required. 1st Shift Hours: 6:00am-2:30pm

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in vehicle manufacturing or complex assembly environments
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in mechanical, electrical, and body integration assembly
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems in a production setting
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing drawings, work instructions, and change processes
  • Support Nonconformance Reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and related documentation
  • Ensure accurate documentation of rework, deviations, and corrective activities
  • Manage Performance Metrics (KPI's): First-pass yield, cycle time and bottleneck recovery, rework reduction and defect containment effectiveness.
  • Advanced problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Strong quality mindset with experience in rework, defect containment, and corrective actions
  • Ability to maintain production flow under pressure and during constraints
  • Effective communication skills across technical and non-technical teams
  • Leadership capability to guide peers without direct authority
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work with hands for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to established limits with or without assistance
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools

Responsibilities

  • Perform and support complex assembly operations involving mechanical, electrical, and body systems integration
  • Troubleshoot electrical fit and functional issues at the station and vehicle level
  • Resolve body, interior, and cosmetic fitment issues to meet functional and appearance requirements
  • Interpret incomplete, unclear, or conflicting drawings and work instructions, coordinating with Engineering as needed
  • Lead rework activities and defect containment to prevent escape and minimize production disruption
  • Diagnose root cause of assembly and quality issues at the station level and support corrective action development
  • Support production flow by exceeding takt time requirements and assisting in resolving line bottlenecks
  • Act as technical escalation point for Technicians I–II during complex or non-standard conditions
  • Train and coach Technicians I–II on advanced assembly techniques, standard work, and quality expectations
  • Serve as backup lead, supporting daily work coordination, task prioritization, and issue escalation
  • Make technical decisions within defined scope to maintain quality, safety, and schedule commitments
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, and Materials to resolve issues and implement improvements
