About The Position

Responsible for the administration of all Track and Structural Inspection activities. Supervises Track and Structure’s Foremen and Planners. Coordinates and directs the maintenance work programs, safety, training, documentation, and personnel scheduling programs. Responsible for the enforcement of rules, regulations and special instructions to ensure that all Track and Structural equipment have been properly maintained in accordance with current Track and Structural safety practices. Works closely with Management staff and provides input in the development of the operating and capital budget programs. Plans and schedules support for work involving Track and Structures work and other branches for Facilities and Maintenance of Way and Rail Operations that interface with Track and Structures. Represents Managers at meetings and acts in the Manager’s capacity when required. Required to respond and assume command during emergencies or major incidents on a twenty-four-hour basis.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and eight years experience in the maintenance of rail track systems, and/or other related structures. Two years of maintenance experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.
  • Must be knowledgeable in Track Standards and able to identify measure and rate track exceptions as noted in the Federal Railroad Administration and MARTA’s Track Safety Standards.
  • Must be able to prescribe remedial action based upon the Track Safety Standards, prescribe and supervise repairs as required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required.
  • Must have current Level #4 Wayside Access and ON-Track Equipment Certification.
  • Must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to successfully pass MARTA’s Track Inspection Qualification Evaluation.
  • Must be able to use personal computer and associated software at an intermediate level.

  • Enforces rules, regulations and special instructions to ensure that all Track and Structure equipment have been properly maintained in accordance with current Track and Structural safety practices.
  • Represents Managers at meetings and acts in the Manager’s capacity when required.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
