Position Summary In your role as a Gas and Chemical Systems (GCS) Controls Engineer role you will focus on comprehensively owning, maintaining, supporting, and improving specialty and bulk gas and chemical Industrial Control Systems at Samsung. You'll also be responsible for reviewing vendor design packages, engineering support systems, and coordinating the startup and commissioning of newly installed equipment. Additionally, you will interact with the on-site Equipment Engineering teams and Operations & Maintenance Technician teams to support Control Systems for Chemical, Gas, and Slurry operations.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Chemical engineering, or related technical field
  • Minimum of 5 years of Controls Engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

  • Providing expertise and ownership for GCS Control Systems, safety and quality standards, and improvements for those systems. Engineer will interact with operations team, construction teams, and equipment vendors
  • Effective communicating and coordinating with Engineers and Technicians to provide technical support, electrical issue resolution, and collaboration for improved safety, quality, and system reliability.
  • Controls equipment monitoring and management, including sustaining operations, maintenance, and process & equipment improvements
  • Developing innovative projects focused on improving the reliability and operation of PLC/SCADA systems
  • Developing site standards and Functional Descriptions to ensure GCS PLC/SCADA systems meet GCS requirements
  • Evaluating process requirements and specifications of new gas and chemical delivery systems as they relate to Industrial Control Systems
  • Acting as the "Visionary" for GCS Control Systems. Understand the current state of GCS Control Systems and help determine the path forward for future improvement
  • Coordinating with International vendors and Korean HQ to ensure Controls design packages meet GCS requirements for quality, reliability, safety and production
  • Performing Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing, as needed, to support the installation and commissioning process for automated equipment
