Gateway is a state-certified community support program (CSP) that serves adults diagnosed with serious mental illness who reside in Dane County and whose illness has led to disruption and/or impairment in various aspects of independent living. The goal of a CSP is to assist clients with achieving and maintaining psychiatric stability and stabilization in community settings. The services provided include supportive psychotherapy, assessment, diagnosis, medication administration and management, assessment of symptoms and effects and side effects of medication, symptom management support, substance use assessment and counseling, group therapy, advocacy, case management, assistance with all areas of daily living including financial, benefits, vocational, educational, housing, spirituality, family, social recreational, self-care, home care, and many other tasks as necessary to assist clients with successful community living. CSP services are provided primarily in community-based settings with the individual. Services include transporting clients to appointments at the office and activities in the community. Time spent in the office is spent in meetings and doing clinical charting. Much of the work is done in community settings with clients. Duties/Responsibilities: Interns in CSP programs provide CSP services to individuals with severe mental illness who reside in the community. Students could potentially provide any of the services listed above with training and support.
