About The Position

The Church Receptionist is a regular attender of Gateway Fellowship. Gateway Fellowship is seeking a personable and detail-oriented Receptionist for the church office. The ideal candidate will possess good communication skills and be able to handle a wide variety of tasks. As a member of the Gateway OneTeam, you will support and demonstrate an understanding of the church’s mission: living the Jesus-centered mission. Key qualifications include possessing a character that reflects biblical godliness and demonstrates a meaningful, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Requirements

  • Strong commitment to faith in Christ and alignment with Gateway’s Statement of Faith.
  • Must regularly attend Gateway Fellowship.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated.
  • Positive attitude, with a passion for supporting church ministries.
  • Sufficient mobility to work in an office setting; stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; operate office equipment, including the use of a computer keyboard.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous receptionist experience, particularly in a church, is preferred.
  • Basic graphic design experience (e.g., Photoshop or Canva; InDesign) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the office is open during business hours (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9:30 am – 4:00 pm, Tuesday, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm).
  • Answer and direct phone calls in a polite and friendly manner.
  • Welcome guests in a warm and friendly manner, and answer any questions they may have.
  • Able to use Microsoft Office programs (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and use other websites.
  • Broad knowledge of all ministries and events.
  • Process the Next Steps cards and communicate with guests and members via Clearstream.
  • Support the Community Pastor and Local Missions Pastor with calendaring, letters, projects, and other miscellaneous support.
  • Operate standard office equipment on a regular basis, including a computer, copy machine, folding machine, and a laminating machine.
  • Maintain the reception area and all common areas in a clean and tidy manner at all times.
  • Arrange for copier maintenance and provide copy reporting as needed.
  • Receive deliveries; sort and distribute incoming mail.
  • Take inventory of supplies and order as needed.
  • Misc responsibilities: hand out keys to volunteers, assemble bulk mailings, keep track of post office accounts (bulk mailing and postage due), lobby prep, do background checks, update phone message, cutting and laminating, and maintain approved van driver list.
  • Support the Senior Executive Assistant for special projects.
  • Arrange for someone to fill in when you’re sick or on vacation.
  • Maintain a positive relationship between the congregation and the church office.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Attend monthly Admin Team meetings.
