About The Position

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Gate Attendant opportunity in Carlsbad, NM to support the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP). Work Location: On-site at WIPP The Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is the nation's only permanent nuclear waste repository for defense-generated transuranic (TRU) waste generated from Department of Energy (DOE) sites across the country. Waste is permanently isolated over 2,000 feet underground in deep salt beds. Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and observant Gate Attendant to monitor and control access at a designated gate entrance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the premises by managing gate operations, maintaining a visible presence, and observing all incoming and outgoing traffic throughout their shift.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in security or gatekeeping preferred.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain alert and focused during long periods of inactivity.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be dependable and punctual.

Responsibilities

  • Open the gate at the beginning of the shift and ensure it is securely closed at the end of the shift.
  • Controlling access to customer property by limiting traffic to authorized personnel and vehicles.
  • Remain stationed in the gatehouse for the duration of the shift, maintaining a vigilant watch over the gate and surrounding area unless instructed otherwise by designated authority.
  • Monitor surveillance equipment (if available) and immediately report any suspicious activity or security breaches to the Protective Force.
  • Maintain accurate logs of all gate activity, including vehicle entries/exits, and incidents.
  • Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or unusual occurrences to the appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure the gatehouse is kept clean, organized, and secure.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures related to safety and security.
  • Perform any other duties as requested when gate attendance is not required
