About The Position

Academic Gastrointestinal Pathologist Department of Pathology Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Harvard Medical School, Boston The Department of Pathology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is recruiting a full-time academic gastrointestinal/liver pathologist. The position is open rank and both recent fellowship graduates and mid-career/senior physicians are strongly encouraged to apply. BIDMC is a tertiary care facility with 743 licensed beds and an internationally renowned principal teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School with NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center-affiliated Cancer Center. The Pathology department will be part of the exciting new clinical collaboration between Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), BIDMC, and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) to establish New England’s only freestanding adult inpatient cancer hospital. The collaboration will bring together world-class clinicians to deliver transformational, precision medicine in an environment solely dedicated to defying cancer. We are looking for an active, energetic, team-oriented faculty member to help us shape our future agenda and engage in areas that are being actively developed. In addition to strong diagnostic skills in gastrointestinal and liver pathology, expertise in molecular diagnostics (including NGS and FISH) is desirable. Strong interest in further developing the crucial role of Pathology in clinical trials is a plus, including new companion diagnostics. Candidates with a strong clinical, translational, or laboratory-based research program are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates with existing NIH grant funding will be supported by attractive research space and start-up funds to expand their programs. The successful candidate will join a team of faculty to provide world-class diagnostics at BIDMC. Additionally, the candidate will support the vibrant training programs, including the pathology residency program, and Gastrointestinal pathology fellowship program. Applicants must be board certified in Pathology (AP or AP/CP) and hold a valid Massachusetts Medical License or the ability to obtain one. The candidate will be appointed to the full-time faculty of Harvard Medical School at an academic rank (Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor) commensurate with experience. Requirements
