About The Position

The Gas System Integrity Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance of the natural gas distribution system across multiple jurisdictions. This position will lead the development and execution of compliance strategies for gas distribution systems in alignment with regulatory code. As a subject matter expert, the role also provides specialized guidance and supports cross-functional teams in maintaining system integrity and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
  • BS in Engineering is required
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in technical writing and documentation.
  • Must be able to adapt to changing work requirements
  • A valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadline requirements
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented
  • Practical working knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in gas distribution operations and/or 49 CFR Part 191 and 192 compliance preferred
  • Professional Engineer's License is a plus but not required
  • Ability to obtain Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) Certification
  • Get Into Energy - Energy Industry Fundamental 2.0 certification is a plus (click here to certify at no cost)

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to gas distribution operations through engineering reviews and technical computations
  • Develop system strategies in gas distribution for operational program efficiencies and technical competency
  • Drive continuous improvement in gas distribution code compliance through proactive strategy development and implementation.
  • Produce reports and technical documentation to ensure regulatory alignment across gas operations
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Apply advanced mathematical concepts and analyze and manipulate data
  • Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic business objectives
