About The Position

As Game Designer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the moment-to-moment gameplay and core systems that define the player’s journey. You are a systems-focused, player-first designer who understands how mechanics, narrative, and presentation work together to create meaningful experiences. From progression systems to social features, exploration, and world interaction, you’ll help define how players connect with the game world. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you’ll collaborate with engineers, artists, animators, and narrative designers to prototype, iterate, and refine engaging gameplay systems. You’ll be instrumental in balancing innovation with accessibility to ensure AGBO’s interactive experiences are as compelling and emotionally resonant as our film and television stories. This role is based in Raleigh, NC, and candidates located in or willing to relocate to the area are highly preferred, as close collaboration with our technical and creative teams is central to the position.

  • Proven ability to work cross-discipline with animation, narrative, and engineering.
  • Passion for iteration, prototyping, and crafting joyful, meaningful player experiences.
  • Significant experience in UE4 and/or UE5.

  • Collaborate with engineers, artists, and narrative teams to integrate mechanics seamlessly into story and world design.
  • Participate in playtests, analyze feedback and metrics, and use them to tune and evolve gameplay.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, highly iterative design culture where ideas are tested, challenged, and refined.
  • Craft exciting gameplay experiences that allow players to explore game worlds in novel and meaningful ways.
