All graduate assistants are required to enroll in a major ensemble appropriate to their applied area every semester they hold an assistantship. The ensemble placement will be determined by audition in the primary applied area. The majority of the graduate teaching assistant's primary duties are in support of instruction, including but not limited to the responsibilities below: 1. Serve as a primary or secondary teaching instructor in a class or laboratory. 2. Assist a faculty member with teaching-related tasks. 3. Grade student assignments which require knowledge of subjects taught in a class or laboratory. 4. Meet with and/or tutor students, hold office hours, prepare instructional materials, and assist during class and/or lab, etc. For this position, the specific Teaching Assistant duties includes performing in the ISU Faculty String Quartet Other specific Teaching Assistant duties may include but are not limited to: 1. Instruction of music minors/studio overload. 2. Assisting with Master Class. 3. Leading orchestra sectionals. 4. Coaching student ensembles. 5. Other duties as assigned, depending on the candidate's interests and experience and School of Music needs.
