About The Position

All graduate assistants are required to enroll in a major ensemble appropriate to their applied area every semester they hold an assistantship. The ensemble placement will be determined by audition in the primary applied area. For this position, the specific Teaching Assistant duties may include but are not limited to: 1. Teaching in the ISU String Project (on- and off-campus) 2. Teaching in Community School for the Arts 3. Teaching Assistant in MusicScores! program (off-campus) 4. Studio assistant 5. Leading sectionals 6. Coaching student ensembles 7. Assisting with Master Class 8. Other duties as assigned, depending on the candidate's interests and experience and School of Music needs.

Requirements

  • Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook which can be found at https://hr.illinoisstate.edu/downloads/GA_Handbook.pdf
  • Must be a degree-seeking graduate student in the School of Music at Illinois State University.
  • For teaching assistant positions, state law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position.
