GA Teaching—Mathematics (Doctoral) – Fall 2025/Spring 2026
About The Position
The majority of the graduate teaching assistants’ primary duties are in support of instruction including but not limited to the responsibilities below: 1. Serve as a primary or secondary teaching instructor in a class or laboratory 2. Assist a faculty member with teaching-related tasks 3. Grade student assignments which require knowledge of subjects taught in a class or laboratory 4. Meet with and/or tutor students, hold office hours, prepare instructional materials, and assist during class and/or lab, etc. Specific duties/responsibilities for these positions may include: Grading and providing constructive feedback to students to help improve their academic performance Tutoring and providing additional help to students outside of class Fostering a positive learning environment by encouraging active participation and respectful discussions.
Requirements
- Degree-seeking PhD student in the Department of Mathematics at Illinois State University.
- Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook, which can be found at: http://hr.illinoisstate.edu/downloads/GA_Handbook.pdf
- State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in English as a requirement for this position.
