About The Position

The majority of the graduate teaching assistants primary duties are in support of instruction. This includes serving as a primary or secondary teaching instructor in a class or laboratory, assisting a faculty member with teaching-related tasks, and grading student assignments that require knowledge of subjects taught in a class or laboratory. Teaching assistants are also expected to meet with and/or tutor students, hold office hours, prepare instructional materials, and assist during class and/or lab. For this specific position, Teaching Assistants typically will teach two sections of GEO 102 - Planet Earth. Some positions may be assigned after August enrollment for class ends.

Requirements

  • Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook
  • Must be a degree seeking graduate student in Hydrogeology Master's program at Illinois State University
  • Demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by State law for Teaching Assistant positions
