About The Position

In the 2026–2027 school year, Santa Fe South proudly continues the growth of El Camino Elementary, our sixth elementary campus. After opening its doors in its inaugural year with Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade, El Camino is now expanding to include 2nd grade and adding one additional teaching position at each existing grade level. The school will continue to grow annually, adding one grade per year until it reaches 5th grade. The Role of a Founding 2nd Grade Teacher at El Camino The Founding 2nd Grade Teacher plays a critical role in strengthening and extending the academic foundation built in the early grades. Second grade is a pivotal year in which students deepen their literacy skills, strengthen conceptual understanding in mathematics, and grow in independence as learners. As part of a second-year, growing campus, 2nd grade teachers are both educators and builders. They collaborate closely with teammates and school leaders to refine systems, establish strong instructional norms, and shape a positive, high-expectations school culture. This role requires adaptability, instructional expertise, and a willingness to engage in the ongoing work of building a school community from the ground up. Founding 2nd grade teachers are expected to deliver high-quality, standards-aligned instruction across all subject areas, with particular emphasis on literacy and mathematics. Instruction is purposeful and intentional, supporting students as they strengthen reading fluency and comprehension, express their thinking clearly through writing, and engage meaningfully with grade-level texts. Teachers use data to guide instruction, respond to individual student needs, and ensure all learners make measurable academic progress.
