About The Position

The Further Product Tech VB position involves learning, performing, and rotating between the roles of packer, scaler, styler, and grader to maintain designated line speeds for various products. Responsibilities include working on a moving conveyor belt, spreading and styling product by hand, performing multiple types of packing and weighing, pulling bones, inspecting, grading, and removing product that does not meet standards. The role requires active participation as a team member, contributing to team development, communication, and policy implementation, and coordinating work for best practices. The individual must also be familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems, including quality, security, office environment, company policies, and LEAN, understanding their role in supporting these systems and communicating concerns or improvement ideas. This position is for hourly production.

Requirements

  • Ability to move, push or pull up to 55 pounds from table to scales at waist level.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, walk, stand and work in a cold, wet, noisy, dusty environment for entire shift.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion.
  • Must have the ability to make good decisions.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with others and leadership team.
  • Std waterproof gloves.
  • Sleeves.
  • Hearing protection.
  • Slip resistant footwear.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for poultry or food processing organization.

Responsibilities

  • Learn, perform and rotate between the positions of packer, scaler, styler and grader.
  • Maintain line speeds on any given product at the designated rate for that product.
  • Work on a moving conveyor belt using both hands.
  • Spread or style product by hand on the belt.
  • Perform multiple types of packing and weighing.
  • Pull bones from product.
  • Inspect, grade and remove product that does not meet standards.
  • Participate as a member of the Team.
  • Participate in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies.
  • Coordinate work to ensure best practices with all team members.
  • Attend appropriate team meetings.
  • Foster strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
  • Accept responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
  • Maintain familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN).
  • Understand the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
