Responsibilities

  • Inspect and diagnose damage or defects in furniture (e.g., wood cracks, loose joints, torn upholstery, scratches, stains, or structural issues).
  • Perform repairs on different materials, including:
  • Wood/case goods — Burn-ins, refinishing, color matching stains, joinery fixes, drawer/door adjustments, or replacing parts like legs/hardware.
  • Upholstery/leather/fabric — Stitching, panel replacements, spring/mechanism repairs, reupholstering, or leather conditioning.
  • Other tasks like minor electrical fixes (e.g., in lighted furniture), refinishing surfaces, or assembling/disassembling pieces.
  • Refinish, touch up, sand, strip, or polish surfaces to restore original appearance.
  • Sometimes handle in-home service calls, warranty repairs, or assembly for retail customers.
  • Maintain tools, inventory of parts/supplies, and accurate records of repairs.
  • Ensure high-quality work that meets safety and company standards, often aiming to return items to “sellable” or like-new condition.
