About The Position

As Director, Relationship Events – Gala, you will lead the implementation and growth of the Southland Chapter’s signature Gala and its wrap-around events to meet or exceed revenue goals through strategic volunteer engagement, corporate development and donor cultivation. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Gala while supporting the growth and management of additional corporate development initiatives as identified by leadership. Utilizing your proven relationship-building and fundraising skills, you will cultivate meaningful partnerships with corporate sponsors, donors and community leaders, ensuring strong engagement and sustainable revenue growth. You will recruit, train and empower volunteers while working closely with volunteer leadership committees to drive successful fundraising outcomes and elevate the visibility of the Alzheimer’s Association mission within the community. Success in this role will be measured through volunteer engagement, corporate partnership development and revenue growth aligned with the strategic plan. This is a full-time position that reports to the VP of Development and is based in the Los Angeles office. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5–7 years of proven experience in corporate fundraising, special events or relationship-based fundraising
  • Demonstrated success recruiting and mobilizing volunteers to achieve fundraising goals
  • Proven ability to develop and sustain relationships with corporate partners, donors and community leaders
  • Experience managing galas or large-scale special events, with a track record of successful fundraising outcomes
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation and written communication skills
  • Highly organized with strong analytical and planning abilities
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 25 lbs. of materials
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed for events and volunteer engagement

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, strategy and implementation of the Chapter’s Gala and related wrap-around events to meet or exceed revenue goals
  • Recruit, train, coach and manage high-level volunteer leadership committees to drive fundraising and community engagement
  • Build and maintain relationships with key volunteers, participants, sponsors, donors and community leaders
  • Prospect, cultivate and steward Gala sponsors and donors through volunteer networks and corporate outreach strategies
  • Manage all financial aspects of sponsor and donor fulfillment, ensuring commitments and recognition opportunities are executed successfully
  • Maintain year-round relationships with corporate sponsors, donors and volunteers to encourage continued engagement with chapter initiatives
  • Partner with volunteer planning committees to organize outreach activities that promote the Alzheimer’s Association mission, including corporate engagement and community presentations
  • Ensure all events and fundraising activities align with Alzheimer’s Association standards and best practices
  • Support additional corporate development initiatives as assigned by leadership
  • Actively participate in professional development and learning opportunities to enhance fundraising and leadership skills
