About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Major and Planned Giving, the Fundraising Campaign Manager will support all aspects of the Newberry’s ongoing comprehensive fundraising campaign through polished and thoughtful written materials, strategic donor cultivation and solicitation, campaign event management and key financial reporting. The manager will collaborate closely with the Vice President for Development and President’s Office to design and execute fundraising strategies that identify, cultivate, and steward major gift prospects whose philanthropic goals resonate with our mission. They will create compelling donor communications for diverse audiences – including presentations, proposals and stewardship reports - that highlight the impact of support. Additionally, this manager will organize and oversee supporter engagement opportunities (behind-the-scenes tours, exclusive campaign events, staff meet-and-greets) to connect donors to the richness and relevance of the Newberry’s collections and programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts, Communication, Business, or another relevant field.
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience in a non-profit organization or cultural institution.
  • Computer proficiency, including working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge database or comparable CRM systems.
  • Ability to work independently, effectively prioritize, plan, organize, and meet critical deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
  • Creative, with the ability to think strategically and respond to changing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including strong writing skills.
  • Effective problem-solving and sound, logical decision-making skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged information.
  • English fluency at a working professional proficiency.
  • Cultural competency; experience and/or ability to work and interact effectively with a diverse, multicultural audience that includes high-level donors.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge or other CRM software database experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with donors in a fundraising setting preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point strongly preferred.
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and a sense of humor.
  • Development position requires early mornings, evenings, and weekends; thus, incumbent must be willing to make a significant commitment to the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manages campaign tracking and reporting, documentation of donor strategies, goals and updates, and progress reporting to supervisor and depart ment leadership. Collaborates with Development Operations to ensure entry and tracking in Raiser’s Edge is consistent with departmental requirements.
  • Responsible for all preparation and management of campaign events, including writing and production of invitations, planning, and execution of event logistics in collaboration with the Development events team, preparation of staffing documentation, acts as onsite lead during the event, and manages follow-up activities with attendees.
  • Responsible for preparation for Campaign Leadership Committee meetings including production of agendas and all presentation materials, collaboration with colleagues to gather content, writing and editing talking points for participants, and production of meeting minutes.
  • Handles all preparation and advanced materials required for donor briefings and solicitations; including production of meeting decks, staffing materials, updates, and post-event follow-up.
  • Collaborates with the Vice President for Development on stewardship plans for campaign donors including project updates, campaign reports, special events invitations, and named recognition throughout the library.
  • Will support planning and coordination of the community phase of the capital campaign to achieve goals in collaboration with the Annual Fund and broader donor community.
  • Assists in support and strategy around cultivation and stewardship of campaign prospects from key stakeholder groups, including major donors, annual fund donors, library/community members, Board of Trustees and the Newberry Library Associates.
