Your role at BHSN As a Funding Specialist for Adult Residential at BHSN, you will collaborate and communicate effectively with internal/external departments/agencies to assist Adult Residential program participants obtain funding. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or higher degree in accounting preferred
  • Experience with and knowledge of funding sources such as Public Assistance and/or SSI/SSDI required
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and interpersonal skills required
  • Complete SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery (SOAR) online training and obtain certification within 60 days of hire
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of program participants
  • Valid NYS driver’s license for potential local travel

Responsibilities

  • Gather, organize and submit documentation as required, in a timely manner to Department of Social Services, Social Security Administration and/or NYS OTDA to ensure payment in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate documentation/records regarding all communication efforts made to collect third party revenue
  • Assist in developing and implementing documentation to better organize and track data to show funding outcomes for Adult Residential participants
  • Communicate effectively with Adult Residential and Finance Department team members
  • Work in close collaboration with Finance Department to monitor payments received and contact third party funding sources immediately to resolve any payment discrepancies
  • Assist Adult Residential team members to assist program participants apply for third party revenue such as Public Assistance, SSI/SSDI, SNAP, and / or Medicaid benefits
  • Work in close collaboration with participants treatment team regarding funding and/or employment goals
  • Assists with deposit preparation to the Finance Department
  • Participate in meetings and trainings as requested
  • Additional duties as assigned within scope of job description
  • Complies with all BHSN, state and federal regulatory policies and procedures
