About The Position

The Fund Development Officer at Sunny Glen Children's Home is an experienced individual who has experience in a multitude of skills including marketing, volunteer interactions, donor interactions, fundraising, event planning, planning capital campaigns, computer skills, and data entry. As such, they must display knowledge of customer service, work as part of a team of workers, Donor Database management, professionally interact with supporters, and be a public advocate of our organization. They also must adhere to all Sunny Glen and affiliate rules and procedures. This position requires the use of judgment and the demonstration of excellent leadership skills in all situations. Individuals must have proven experience in nonprofit giving areas, fund development, event planning, or similar experience. This position rotates between three locations in the Harlingen-San Benito area. This is a full-time position.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • Previous experience working for or with non–profit organizations.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office, and Excel.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Have a record of tuberculosis screening showing the employee is free of contagious TB.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and abide by Sunny Glen Children's Home policies and procedures.
  • Develop strategic fundraising plans.
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a team.
  • Assist in creating and implementing strategies and plans for the successful operation of the Fund Development Department.
  • Monitor compliance with Sunny Glen policies, all legal guidelines, and quality standards.
  • Uses strong organizational skills.
  • Uses strong interpersonal and intrapersonal skills in dealing with donors.
  • Develop and maintain sources in the community for future donations.
  • Attend events on behalf of Sunny Glen Children’s Home
  • Holds self-accountable to a high standard of integrity and ethics.
  • Develop skills for creating requisitions, purchase orders, and basic accounting principles.
  • Operates as a cashier when necessary.
  • Ensures smooth communication and transitions among all team members.
  • Attends regular meetings with staff within Fund Development for reporting and status updates on job expectations and performance.
  • Maintain accurate records, files, forms, statistics, and additional relevant information by agency policy.
  • Employer retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position.
  • Other Duties as assigned by the Executive Director, Fund Development Manager, or Sunny Glen Executive Team.
