PLNU is a Christian liberal arts university in the evangelical, Wesleyan tradition, offering quality undergraduate, graduate and professional programs. We provide higher education in a vibrant Christian environment where minds are engaged and challenged, character is modeled and formed, and service is an expression of faith. PLNU is an institution that is committed to reflecting the rich diversity of God’s kingdom. We therefore encourage applications from culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber, skilled and/or demonstrating great potential in the practice of teaching and scholarship. The School of Nursing educates approximately 500 students enrolled across our traditional BSN, RN-BSN, MSN and DNP programs. The traditional BSN program is offered in a traditional, face-to-face learning format. In general, the RN-BSN, MSN and DNP programs are online with occasional hybrid opportunities. The graduate programs include three clinical tracks (Women’s Health, Pediatrics, Adult/Gerontology) for the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role as well as pathways in the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Health Care Leadership specialties. Point Loma nursing graduates are highly sought out for their unique capacity to care, active involvement, and leadership qualities. We are seeking nurse educators to join the full-time faculty in creatively responding to the learning needs of the nurse in the 21st century. This person will actively participate in the vision for the School of Nursing: “The School of Nursing at Point Loma Nazarene University embraces, as a covenant, the commitment to excellence within a dynamic Christian environment in which each one will engage in the sacred work of nursing. This sacred work involves symbolically removing one’s shoes in service of others.” The School of Nursing is seeking candidates for a full-time tenure track (those with a terminal degree) or professional track (those without a terminal degree) teaching position in the undergraduate program (traditional BSN) and throughout the post-licensure nursing programs (RN-BSN, MSN, DNP). The university is seeking an individual capable of excellent teaching, committed to significant involvement with students both within and outside of the classroom, and interested in participating in the academic unit’s service learning and/or undergraduate research programs. The School of Nursing has a strong commitment to quality teaching, a passion for building Christian community with students, a tradition of high-impact academic practices, and experience in using our skills for collaborative and interprofessional work. Responsibilities will begin August 2026 and will include teaching a wide variety of courses across nursing programs.
