About The Position

The Statistics Department in the College of Science and Mathematics at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, is seeking to hire full-time lecturers for two-year contracts, with appointments beginning August 17, 2026 and ending approximately May 19, 2028. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. The anticipated hiring range for a finalist with a master's degree is $67,404 - $71,508 annually. The anticipated hiring range for a finalist with a doctorate degree is $78,432 - $89,772 annually. Primary duties and responsibilities are to teach introductory statistics courses.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Statistics or closely related field.
Must have ability to teach the following undergraduate courses: Statistical and Data Literacy, Applied Statistical Concepts and Methods, Business Statistics I, Business Statistics II, Statistics I, Engineering Statistics.
The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may result in the withdrawal of the offer of employment.
Current employees who are offered positions on campus will be required to undergo a background check for any position where a background check is required by law or that Cal Poly has designated as sensitive.
It is also expected that faculty establish an on-campus presence to fulfill their responsibilities.
