About The Position

The Kinesiology and Public Health Department in the Bailey College of Science and Mathematics at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, is seeking to hire one full-time lecturer for a two-year contract, with appointment beginning August 17, 2026 and ending approximately May 19, 2028. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. The anticipated hiring range for a finalist with a master's degree is $67,404 - $71,508 annually. The anticipated hiring range for a finalist with a doctorate degree is $78,432 - $89,772 annually. Primary duties and responsibilities are to teach undergraduate general education Drugs in Society, Public Health & Mental Health, Social Determinants of Health, Medical Terminology, and other courses in the public health major.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Public Health, Community Health, Health Promotion, Health Education or closely related field is required.
Master's degree must be conferred and official transcripts received before August 17, 2026.
Must have the ability to teach the following undergraduate courses: Drugs in Society, Public Health & Mental Health, Social Determinants of Health, Medical Terminology, Multicultural health; women’s health and/or; global health issues, healthcare systems, and other courses in the public health major.

Nice To Haves

Doctorate in Public Health, Community Health, Health Promotion, Health Education or closely related field.
Certified Health Education Specialists or CHES/MCHES eligible.
University teaching experience using face to face, hybrid and online delivery.
Experience supervising undergraduate community-based learning and/or research.
