The Lab and Simulation Lab Coordinator, and the Director of Nursing, are responsible for all aspects of the Program's simulations and clinical lab education including scheduling of labs, inventory, monitoring, ordering, and maintaining lab supplies, and set-up and monitoring of clinical lab activities that reflect an understanding of the philosophy, objectives, and curriculum of the Nursing Program, current evidence based nursing practice, and educational learning principles. The Lab Coordinator will serve as a resource and facilitator for all clinical lab activities for full-time faculty. The Lab Coordinator assists the Program Director with maintaining clinical compliance and accreditation with the respective Accrediting Body. The Simulation Lab Coordinator will serve as a resource and facilitator for all simulation lab clinical activities for full-time faculty. The Simulation Lab Coordinator assists the Program Director with maintaining clinical compliance and accreditation with the respective Accrediting Body.

Requirements

  • Unencumbered Registered Nurse Licensure in Arkansas
  • Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) required by Accrediting Body.
  • Two years clinical experience
  • Clinical Lab teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of Arkansas State Board of Nursing practice clinical lab requirements.
  • Current knowledge of contemporary practice.
  • Clear criminal background check
  • Clear 10 panel urine drug screen
  • CHSE certified
  • Current TB/CPR certification
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying up to 50 lbs, and sustaining endurance while standing/walking for extended periods.
  • Proficiency in fine and gross motor skills to manipulate medical equipment, perform patient care tasks, and respond quickly in emergencies.
  • Sensory acuity in hearing, vision, touch, and smell to accurately assess patient conditions and respond to alarms, subtle changes, and environmental cues.
  • Competence in reading, writing, and interpreting medical documentation, charts, orders, and digital displays.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills for dosage calculations, interpreting measurements, evaluating data, and problem-solving.
  • Emotional stability and resilience to cope with stress, unexpected events, and strong emotions while maintaining focus and professionalism.
  • Ability to establish therapeutic and professional relationships with patients, families, and healthcare team members while respecting cultural differences.
  • Effective communication skills to teach, delegate, influence, and collaborate across disciplines in both spoken and written English.
  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills to prioritize, adapt, and synthesize information from multiple sources in dynamic healthcare environments.
  • Capacity to tolerate and work effectively in environments with strong odors, disturbing sounds, and exposure to potentially distressing situations.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses using the standard course outline; instructional load varies based on appointment length and position type.
  • Create course materials, including handouts, lectures, labs, and presentations.
  • Evaluate student performance, participate in learning outcome assessments, and suggest improvements for instruction.
  • Collaborate on curriculum planning, textbook selection, and establishing academic standards.
  • Supervise students in clinicals, internships, fieldwork, and simulations; provide feedback and evaluations.
  • Maintain availability through email, phone, or office hours as outlined in the syllabus; support students with make-up work, review sessions, or extended grading periods.
  • Assign grades, maintain FERPA-compliant student records, and meet institutional deadlines.
  • Stay current with discipline-specific knowledge, licensure, and teaching methods through ongoing professional development.
  • Advise students, serve on committees, mentor new faculty, and engage in college events like commencement.
  • Participate in departmental, divisional, and institutional meetings as assigned by supervisors.
  • Supervise students during 12-hour clinical shifts, provide real-time instruction, evaluate performance, and conduct post-conference discussions.
  • Assist in setting up, running, and debriefing lab and simulation sessions; guide students through hands-on skill development.
