About The Position

This is a 9-month full-time campus-based faculty position in the Nursing Department (Entry-Into-Practice, EIP ), Berman School of Nursing and Health Professions, with responsibilities for teaching, student advising and mentoring, course development, service to the school, department, and university, and continued scholarship in the field. Teaching responsibilities include 24-30 contact hours per academic year, commensurate with rank, including but not limited to simulation, theory, and/or clinical experience hours. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, student recruitment, retention, and placement efforts; program assessment; and engagement in the life of the university. The faculty member, Behavioral Health Nursing, fulfills all responsibilities of a full-time faculty member as defined in the Stevenson University Policies and the School of Nursing and Health professions Full-Time Faculty Job Description. Rank and title are determined at the time of hire and will be commensurate with education and experience. The essential functions for the full-time faculty member in nursing are taken from the Full-Time Faculty Job Description developed by the faculty of the Berman School of Nursing and Health Professions.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in instructional activity totaling 24-30 contact hours per academic year as assigned by Academic Program Administrator ( APA ).
  • Maintain teaching effectiveness by encouraging active student learning, reflecting and responding to student evaluations of teaching, and adjusting teaching strategies per recommendations from classroom observations, supervisor evaluations, and other relevant sources of feedback.
  • Conduct student advising activities including time spent providing students with support, resources, and/or recommendations regarding academic, curricular, career and/or graduate school matters.
  • Participate in the assessment activities of the Department, School, and University.
  • Mentor students in research courses and/or projects related to specialty scholars program requirements.
  • Serve as course coordinator for nursing course(s) as requested, including the implementation of new teaching methods, strategies or tools in nursing courses and overseeing and managing the clinical component of assigned course(s).
  • Conceive and develop new courses to expand academic offerings within the faculty member’s discipline.
  • Develop and maintain self-directed intellectual pursuits, including research, that enhance
  • Conduct self-directed research with students (bench, educational, or other) of a quality that could lead to presentation or publication, including presentation/publication in venues dedicated to undergraduate research.
  • Engage in intellectual pursuits outside of the classroom that are related to professional interests (e.g., grant-writing, peer review, authorship of texts, chapters and journal articles).
  • Pursue and maintain clinical certification(s).
  • Maintain current/relevant nursing clinical practice to enhance teaching/learning.
  • Department service includes contributing to student recruitment, retention, and registration efforts; attending departmental and nursing unit meetings; participating in Open Houses and recruiting efforts; attending and participating in planning and coordination of departmental and nursing unit events; and establishing professional relationships to generate clinical placement opportunities for students.
  • University service includes, but is not limited to, service on the University, School and Departmental committees.
  • Engage and participate in the life and work of the department, School of Nursing and Health Professions, and Stevenson University.
  • Attend all Faculty/Staff University, School, and Department meetings.
  • Complete all required trainings and professional learning assignments.
  • Participate in faculty governance.
  • Actively participate on Department, School, and University committees.
  • Participate in recruitment and yield events.
  • Participate in Department, School, and University assessment activities, including, but not limited to, annual assessment of courses and periodic assessments of programs for University and/or accreditation purposes.
  • Serve on Faculty Mentoring and Evaluation Committee(s) as requested.
  • Serve as a point of contact for Clinical Supervisors in clinical courses as part of role as Course Coordinator, including orienting Clinical Supervisors to specific course requirements, monitoring issues in the clinical setting, and reporting as needed to the Nursing Department APA and the Clinical Education Director.
  • Serve on at least one Nursing Unit CCNE Standards Committee.
