About The Position

POSITION PURPOSE: Attends different landing sites, refuels buses, and checks all fluid levels in a safe and timely manner. Performs some mechanical work and other assignments.

Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point; Google Apps
  • Working knowledge of computers
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team and complete tasks in the absence of clear direction
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations
  • Ability to drive automatic or standard vehicles
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, staff members of external funding agencies, and the community.
  • High school diploma or GED certification.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid North Carolina commercial driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Fuels buses and checks all fluid levels.
  • Refuels and restocks assigned truck.
  • Repairs mechanical problems with assigned truck.
  • Performs general service, including changing oils, changing tires, fueling buses, changing batteries, and greasing vehicles.
  • Assists in performing supervised routine Preventative Maintenance.
  • Performs any other duties, as assigned.
