About The Position

FS Depot has an immediate opening for a Controller. This position will serve as a key member of the FS Depot management team, responsible for leading all accounting operations, financial controls, and managerial reporting for the business. This role oversees the integrity of financial information, ensures strong internal control environments, and manages compliance with tax, statutory, and local reporting requirements. The Controller will play a strategic role in supporting business decision‑making and will bring extensive experience in financial management within publicly traded companies, including a deep understanding of SEC reporting standards and regulatory expectations.

Requirements

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
  • 5+ years of combined Public/Private Industry accounting experience
  • Extensive experience in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, audit and financial analysis
  • Strong working experience/knowledge US GAAP and SOX Compliance
  • Knowledge of full-cycle accounting including audit, treasury and financial systems
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel & Powerpoint skills; familiar with various ERP systems specifically JD Edwards an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate across departments and business units
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy of work
  • Strong understanding of financial risk management practices and strategies to mitigate risks
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections to make sound decisions and exercise judgment
  • Strong written, communication and interpersonal skills required including ability to participate in and facilitate large group meetings

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and oversee monthly close process & forecasting
  • Prepare and coordinate Annual Operating Plan (AOP)
  • Successfully act as a liaison between other operating departments to facilitate information flow and decision-making process
  • Apply continuous improvement in methodology to coordinate, lead and improve the cost structure of the Business Unit
  • Provide weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports of performance and detailed analysis of variances and their root causes
  • Ensure efficient performance, US GAAP compliance, and integrity of the financial records
  • Lead the internal and external audit process and coordinate with auditors to ensure timely completion of each audit
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements and reports
  • Adhere to and enforce compliance corporate controls and policies at all levels of the organization
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) by implementing and monitoring internal controls, conducting regular risk assessments, and ensuring accurate financial reporting
  • Partner with key stakeholders across the organization to assess financial results and develop key financial strategies in support of business objectives
  • Perform other duties, assignments and special projects as required.
