The Fruitvale Community Market Manager (FCMM) engages with Northwest Harvest (NWH)’s goal of cutting hunger rates in half by 2028 by overseeing equitable day‑to‑day and long‑term operational planning that ensures dignified, reliable access to food and resources for the Yakima community. This role manages all aspects of market operations—including staff and volunteer leadership, food inventory and supply flow, shopper logistics, safety practices, and property management—to create a consistent, high‑quality experience for market shoppers. The FCMM ensures equitable service distribution by optimizing in‑store shopping, drive‑through services, and resource room usage, while maintaining clear, multilingual external communication across outreach channels. Additionally, they ensure that market operations center the experiences, needs, and voices of people facing food insecurity. At the heart of the role is people leadership grounded in emotional intelligence, cultural humility, and NWH’s PACI values and 6 Agreements. The FCMM builds and sustains a healthy, dynamic team culture by leading across differences, staying curious, fostering connectedness, encouraging learning, and championing clear, empathetic communication. The FCMM supports staff resilience and ensures staff, volunteers, and shoppers encounter dignity, respect, and compassionate service whenever they are on site. And through their leadership the FCMM strengthens both the Fruitvale Community Market and NWH’s broader mission to grow food justice through collective action. Schedule: This position will work into the early evenings on Mondays and Fridays and may be required to work other occasional off-shift hours as necessary for special events or other duties assigned. Travel: This position may be required to travel 1-5 days a month within the state of Washington.
