About The Position

This position is responsible for performing warehousing, shipping, and repacking support functions under the direction of the Shipping/Receiving Supervisor. The role involves routine warehouse duties such as cycle counts, location changes, spill reports, and housekeeping. Key tasks include loading and unloading trucks, completing associated paperwork, and ensuring trailer safety procedures like chocking wheels and locking out trailers are followed. The operator will drive a standup forklift to transport cases from the warehouse dock for trailer loading and will check merchandise against bills of lading for accuracy. They are also responsible for operating a standup lift truck to move loaded pallets within the Frozen Storage area, to production lines, railcars, and trucks. When assisting with repackaging, the individual must ensure proper checks and pick list procedures are used. Daily maintenance checks of forklift batteries are also required. The role demands adherence to all safety practices, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and plant hygiene regulations to maintain product integrity. Any mechanical or safety issues must be reported immediately. The position also requires maintaining a clean and orderly work area, following food safety and quality policies, and wearing all specified Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hair/beard nets, hearing protection, freezer suits, gloves, hats, and reflective vests. Leaving the assigned work area without permission is not allowed, and other duties may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Performing warehousing, shipping, and repacking support functions under the direction of the Shipping/Receiving Supervisor.
  • Performing routine warehouse duties such as cycle counts, location changes, spill reports and housekeeping functions, as directed by the Freezer Warehouse Supervisor or Leadperson.
  • Helping load and unload trucks and completing the necessary paperwork in a timely and detailed manner as outlined in the procedure’s manual.
  • Checking and confirming that the wheels are chocked in the trailers being loaded.
  • Ensuring trailers are locked out prior to entering.
  • Driving a standup forklift to transport cases from the warehouse dock for subsequent trailer loading.
  • Checking merchandise being received with bill of lading to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensuring that the loading and unloading is done properly to avoid trailer damage.
  • Operating a standup lift truck to transfer loaded pallets to and from the Frozen Storage area, production lines, railcars, and trucks.
  • Assuring proper checks and pick list procedures are being utilized when providing repackaging support.
  • Checking and maintaining daily forklift batteries (following outlined procedures).
  • Physically lifting up to 100 pounds.
  • Adhering to all common safety practices and procedures including the wearing of protective equipment and clothing as required.
  • Adhering to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) as outlined in the Employee Handbook and as per management’s directives.
  • Adhering to the Company’s plant hygiene regulations to ensure high product integrity.
  • Reporting any mechanical or safety problems to the Supervisor or Lead immediately.
  • Ensuring work area is kept clean and orderly in accordance with good housekeeping practices.
  • Following food safety, legality and quality policies and procedures within the scope of the job responsibilities such as but not limited to: GMP’s, safety, product quality, food security, plant security, etc.
  • Wearing all required PPE’s such as hair/beard nets, hearing protection, freezer suits, gloves, hats, etc.
  • Wearing reflective vests when loading and unloading.
  • Not leaving assigned work area unless given permission to do so.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
