About The Position

This position aids and assists with the daily operation of the school ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provide general office assistance, including answering phones; assisting parents, staff and students; photocopying; mail distribution; photocopying; running reports; processing enrollment paperwork Coordinate and complete school ordering Maintain accurate student attendance data – absences, excuses, and attendance taking tools for teachers Communicate with staff, parents, and state and local agencies regarding student attendance issues Prepare a variety of daily, weekly, and periodic attendance reports Assist with emergency management Maintain/inventory workroom supplies Manage orders for student supplies and coordinate distribution Manage orders for start of school classroom orders and coordinate distribution of supplies Manage facility requests Assist with producing volunteer background checks and keeping volunteer records Provide support to the health room staff when needed Manage classroom media subscriptions Assist teachers with field trips - producing permission forms and requesting bus transportation Maintain the school calendar Assist with the managing of in-house building use Assist with the coordination of after-school enrichment programs and vendors Schedule and facilitate school photos Update and distribute staff emergency phone tree Order binder reminders for classrooms Maintain various school forms (student code of conduct, staff schedules, staff emergency contacts Process forms for 5 th grade camp Act as assessment coordinator Cover essential functions for administrative assistant when s/he is not present Help cover emergent needs, including student supervision, as needed. Requirements

  • Associate Degree
  • 1-3 years of experience working with children or young adults, preferably in a school setting.
  • Must have valid 1 st Aid/CPR Card before the first day of employment.
  • Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to respond to common requests or complaints from public, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must have strong communications, computer and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
  • Working knowledge of a variety of business machines.
  • Strong financial and budgetary skills.
  • Patience in interacting with parents and small children.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing.
  • Flexibility and the ability to work amidst many interruptions.
  • Ability to perform duties in accordance with all district and State requirements and policies.
