Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Front Office Receptionist for our Wilson, NC location. The Front Office Receptionist will handle patient registration with accuracy and efficiency using medical systems. This individual will use facility medical necessity tools to verify appropriate patient insurance coverage while adhering to our established policies and procedures. The role requires exceptional customer service skills, as the emergency responses and communication will directly impact patient satisfaction and experiences.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; Associates Degree preferred.
  • 1 year of customer service experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and visitors by greeting them in person or via telephone, answering or directing inquiries as appropriate.
  • Record patient arrivals in the Practice Management System (EMR).
  • Identify patients by their date of birth and name, creating a new account if the patient is not currently in the system.
  • Prepare necessary patient paperwork prior to their appointments.
  • Reach out to patients with “No Show” appointments to reschedule and document interactions in the Practice Management System.
  • Manage appointment scheduling to optimize patient satisfaction and treatment room utilization while alleviating patient anxieties.
  • Respond to emergencies with sound reasoning and judgement to assist patients in distress.
  • Regularly review the Practice Management System for updates, ensuring patient information is accurate and current.
  • Verify payer sources, insurance eligibility, and financial statuses, and inform the Billing Department if prior authorizations are needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
  • Collect patient copays and balances at check-in/out while ensuring confidentiality of personal and financial information.
  • Adhere to operational policies and procedures and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrate superior customer service skills consistently.
  • Answer phones promptly and courteously, maintaining professionalism at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, providers, and team members.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Practice Manager or Area Practice Manager.
