About The Position

The Front of House Manager serves as a key shift lead for all front-of house operations across The Grand Opera House, The Capitol Theatre, and Mercer Music at Capricorn. This role provides on-site leadership during events, supports multiple front-of-house functions, and ensures consistent guest experience standards across venues. The Front of House Manager also supports light organizational projects during low event weeks and oversees performance-related merchandise sales operations.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma/GED and three years of relevant experience, which must include customer service experience and some experience with customer point-of-sale systems, are required.
  • Candidates must have a valid driver's license.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use email and create or edit Word documents.
  • Willingness to work across all arts venues, including The Grand, The Capitol Theatre, and Mercer Music at Capricorn.
  • Ability to travel reliably between arts venues as needed.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, based on event needs.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with prior experience working in a performing arts, entertainment, or live events environment and/or current CPR/First Aid certification are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a shift lead for front-of-house operations during performances, rentals, and special events.
  • Supervise and support house management, box office, bartending, ushering, and security functions as needed.
  • Step into house manager, box office, or bartender roles when necessary to ensure smooth event execution.
  • Serve as a point of escalation for front-of-house issues during assigned shifts.
  • Lead and manage performance-related merchandise sales programs across venues, excluding the Capricorn gift shop.
  • Coordinate merchandise setup, staffing, sales tracking, and breakdown for events.
  • Ensure accurate cash handling and reporting for merchandise sales.
  • Assist with light organizational tasks related to front-of-house storage, supplies, and equipment.
  • Complete organizational projects during low-event weeks as prioritized by the Director of Operations.
  • Help maintain front-of house readiness and presentation standards across venues.
