About The Position

As the Front End Staff Engineer with the Retail Media Network Ad Engineering team, you will lead the technical development and technical strategy of the company's self-service ad platform. This role is responsible for collaborating closely with product, marketing, data science, and external partners to build and optimize a robust, scalable, and innovative ad delivery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in delivering cutting edge front end solutions across both web and mobile platforms with React and React-Native. You will be a technical leader across multiple products or systems and recognized as an expert and thought leader in this area as well considered a mentor and teacher across squads with the ability to influence outside their direct teams. This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days on site at a Best Buy location and some days virtually from home or other non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process. For this role, you must be located within a drivable distance to our office in Richfield, Minnesota.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree OR equivalent relevant professional experience
  • 5+ years of experience with languages such as React, JavaScript, TypeScript, and/or similar frameworks.
  • 3+ years of experience with native mobile technologies such as React-Native, Android, or iOS
  • 1+ years of experience with formal or informal Leadership

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 7 or more years of relevant professional experience
  • 5+ years experience with engineering custom solutions using modern languages, cloud technologies and SDLC practices and tools.
  • 5+ years of experience with Cloud Platforms (AWC, GCP)
  • 3+ years Experience with Retail Media Networks, Ad Engineering, Ad Servers or Demand Partners
  • Experience working in retail, marketing, or similar technologies and related areas
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and modern software development practices including Scrum and Kanban

Responsibilities

  • Influence the architecture of complex systems and processes, driving strategic technical decisions across teams.
  • Solve highly complex issues using innovative approaches, including advanced debugging, triaging, and incident response.
  • Communicate tradeoffs between technical, analytical, and product needs to guide balanced decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the SDLC, reliability, monitoring, and support; recommend tools and standards to enhance efficiency.
  • Ensure high standards of quality, performance, and reliability in custom-built systems while staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Build and maintain strong technical and business relationships across a growing network of peers and stakeholders.
