About The Position

PeopleConnect is seeking a Software Engineer (Front-End – React) to build and optimize high-impact, customer-facing web experiences across our product portfolio. This is a hands-on role with meaningful ownership over core web applications that drive acquisition, engagement, and conversion. You will partner closely with product, design, marketing, and backend engineering to deliver performant, reliable, and scalable React applications in a high-traffic production environment. This is an office-based role with a hybrid schedule, including one flexible work-from-home day per week, based in our San Diego office. We’re looking for an engineer who takes pride in clean, maintainable code, cares about performance and usability, and understands how front-end decisions directly impact business outcomes.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong focus on front-end development.
  • Strong hands-on experience with React and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
  • Advanced proficiency in HTML5 and CSS3, including responsive and adaptive design.
  • Experience building and supporting high-traffic, customer-facing web applications.
  • Experience working with REST APIs and authentication frameworks to support secure, reliable client-server interactions.
  • Solid understanding of component-based architecture and state management patterns.
  • Familiarity with Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to UI quality and usability.
  • Clear communicator who collaborates effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated, execution-focused, and comfortable operating in production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain modern React applications powering dynamic, high-traffic web experiences.
  • Develop clean, semantic, and accessible HTML and advanced CSS to deliver responsive, production-grade interfaces.
  • Implement reusable components and scalable front-end architecture patterns.
  • Ensure cross-browser compatibility and consistent behavior across devices and screen sizes.
  • Integrate front-end applications with RESTful APIs and backend services.
  • Work within existing authentication and API frameworks to ensure secure, reliable data flow between the front end and backend services.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers to define and consume well-structured APIs.
  • Support CI/CD processes to enable safe, repeatable deployments.
  • Optimize page speed, rendering performance, and overall user experience.
  • Support high-availability production systems with strong operational awareness.
  • Participate in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of production issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve performance, maintainability, and scalability.
  • Partner cross-functionally to implement and iterate on user journeys and feature enhancements.
  • Contribute to code reviews, technical documentation, and front-end standards.
  • Apply engineering best practices and reinforce maintainable coding patterns.
  • Participate in initiatives that support team and organizational success.
