About The Position

As a part of Broadview Materials, a global leader in the manufacturing, distribution and marketing of decorative surfacing materials, Formica® Corporation offers its customers the best portfolio of product solutions in the industry. We have an outstanding opportunity for a Contract Front-End Developer at our North American headquarters. This role is expected to last for approximately six months with the potential to be renewed. The Front-End Developer will be an integral part of the Marketing Technology team, supporting the development of modern digital experiences across Formica’s web platforms. This role will focus on translating approved Figma designs into reusable, high-quality UI components and templates using React, TypeScript, Tailwind, and Storybook. Working in partnership with Design, Marketing Technology, and development team members, this role will help build and maintain the presentation layer of our digital experience platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for layout and detail, be comfortable working from design files and established standards, and be interested in creating clean, reusable components that support a scalable design system. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is comfortable working in a collaborative environment, open to feedback, and able to balance consistency, speed, and quality in a component-driven UI workflow.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Web Development, Design Technology, Information Systems, or relevant field preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience in front-end development, UI development, or a related role.
  • Experience with React and TypeScript required.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and responsive web development required.
  • Experience translating Figma or similar design files into reusable front-end components required.
  • Understanding of front-end best practices including reusable component structure, maintainable styling, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to match design intent accurately.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with design and development team members.
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to manage assigned work, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Tailwind CSS, Storybook, and component-based UI development preferred.
  • Experience with unit testing tools such as Vitest, React Testing Library, or similar is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Build reusable UI components and page templates using React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and Storybook.
  • Translate Figma designs into production-ready front-end components that align with approved design standards and responsive behavior.
  • Support the development and maintenance of a shared component library used across all website digital experiences.
  • Ensure implemented components are visually accurate, consistent, accessible, and aligned with project requirements.
  • Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve code quality, maintainability, and consistency.
  • Contribute to front-end documentation and Storybook stories to support component reuse and team collaboration.
  • Assist with front-end quality efforts, including component testing and validation across screen sizes and supported browsers.
  • Support miscellaneous digital experience and UI development projects as assigned.
