About The Position

Amazon Leo is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of over 3000 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Amazon Leo will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity. The Amazon Leo Global Capacity Planning team owns designing, implementing, and operating systems that support the planning, management, and optimization of Leo network resources worldwide. We are looking for a talented software development engineer to develop a new, high-visibility product for worldwide strategic planning. This product will be instrumental in helping Leo execute on its business plans. As one of our valued team members, you will be obsessed with matching our standards for operational excellence with a relentless focus on delivering results.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional front end, web or mobile software development using JavaScript, HTML and CSS experience
  • 2+ years of computer science fundamentals (object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving and complexity analysis) experience
  • Experience building scalable, distributed, front-end experiences
  • 2+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Experience with AWS services used for front ends such as CloudFront, CloudWatch, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, IAM, Cognito, etc.
  • Experience with Java and SQL
  • Knowledge of client-server architectures

Responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally with product, business development, and various technical teams to design a suitable software systems to fulfill Leo's capacity planning needs.
  • Design and deliver modern, flexible, scalable solutions to complex optimization problems for operating and planning satellite constellations
  • Utilize AWS and other Amazon technologies to build highly-available software services.
  • Design and implement production quality web applications that are secure and accessibility compliant.
  • Mentor fellow engineers and contribute to building a strong engineering culture.
