About The Position

Amazon LEO is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Amazon LEO will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity. As an Antenna Systems Engineer supporting the development, test, and design of antenna and RF Front-End, you will design, integrate, and characterize antennas and arrays across multiple domains (phased arrays, reflectors, aperture antennas, and other relevant topologies). You will own “ADC-to-antenna” RF performance, collaborating with RF, systems, and calibration teams to deliver high-performance RF systems and links for both space and ground segments. You’ll split your time between EM design tools, RF system analysis, and lab validation, working on high volume antenna design from concept to deployment. A day in the life You will design and implement the RF antennas and Front-End systems that ensure the performance of Leo's antennas from lab test to fully integrated customer terminals. Your tools, code, simulations, and systems will define the performance of one of the most advanced communication systems ever built. You’ll collaborate with RF, software, calibration, and systems engineers, and make daily decisions that directly affect the readiness of Leo's payload and terminal products. The systems you build will enable critical RF links, data collection, system analysis, and CICD pipelines that ensure LEO hardware performs flawlessly on Earth and in orbit. About the team Our team owns the full performance lifecycle of LEO's antenna systems from early concept testing and calibration to final product release. We operate at the intersection of RF Systems, mixed signal ASICs, software automation, and large-scale system integration. You’ll work closely with antenna, DSP, and system development engineers, contributing to the design, development frameworks, manufacturing support, and performance validation. We leverage AWS tools and scalable software architectures to accelerate development, automate validation, and deliver reliable test systems used across the entire LEO organization.

Requirements

  • Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • Experience leading the design, automation, deployment, and support of large-scale infrastructure
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
  • Experience with Linux/Unix
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
  • Experience with distributed systems at scale

Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize antenna and array architectures (element selection, lattice, feeding networks, beam-forming strategies) to meet RF system goals.
  • Own end-to-end RF performance from ADC/DAC through RF front-end to antenna radiation, working closely with RFIC, PA/LNA, and system teams.
  • Use EM and RF design tools (e.g., HFSS, CST, AWR, or similar) to simulate element/array performance, mutual coupling, scan loss, and pattern characteristics.
  • Collaborate with calibration, software, DSP, ASIC, and validation teams to define system strategies (array calibration, beam equalization, phase/amplitude error mitigation, IFFT gains, and more) and measure on-bench and in-chamber performance.
  • Define and maintain antenna specifications and requirements at the module, aperture, and system level.
  • Support prototype builds, bring-up, and test campaigns for active antennas, including chamber testing and over-the-air validation.
  • Provide DFM and DFT feedback for antenna boards, modules, and test fixtures.
  • Write design reports, test summaries, and present results to leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Develop and deploy code to support testing, simulation, and validation of antenna systems.

Benefits

  • Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market.
  • Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
