About The Position

The Front End/Cashier position at Fred Meyer involves assisting customers and processing sales while embodying the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. This part-time role is essential for delivering excellent customer service and maintaining the operational standards of the checkout area.

Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma or GED; or a combination of relevant education and experience.
• Six months cashier experience at a Customer Service Desk.
• Minimum age of 18 years (19 years in Idaho and Alaska if selling tobacco).
• Ability to pass a drug test.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and on weekends regularly.
• Ability to work any shift and overtime as needed.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.

• Related retail experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers and process sales transactions.
• Perform cashier functions including opening and closing the register, ringing sales, and completing tender transactions.
• Bag merchandise and make money drops.
• Maintain cleanliness of the checkstand area to housekeeping standards.
• Answer telephones and comply with all corporate policies.
• Promote and follow company initiatives.
• Verify that all Electronic Article Surveillance Tags are deactivated or removed from products at the point of sale.
• Respond to Electronic Article Surveillance pedestal activations and verify tag removal as necessary.
• Maintain all store accounting functions and prepare bank deposits of excess funds.
• Open and close the Customer Service Desk, processing refunds, exchanges, and other transactions.
• Provide lottery services (except in Alaska) and fish and game licenses.
• Administer lost and found and run vendor reports.
