The Cashier operates cash registers, electronic scanners, and related equipment to conduct transactions with customers while ensuring a positive shopping experience. This role supports the sales floor by assisting customers with product inquiries and purchases, always reflecting our values of positivity, teamwork, accountability, and a love for pets. Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Requirements

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with a positive attitude toward people and pets.
  • Ability to operate cash registers, calculators, and scanners.
  • Strong attention to detail and accountability in transactions.
  • Basic math skills for making change and processing refunds.
  • Eager to learn about store products, services, and customer needs.
  • Team-oriented, dependable, and willing to support others.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Successful completion of on-the-job training provided.
  • Prolonged periods standing and working at a register.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand movements for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Greets customers warmly as they enter the store, creating a welcoming environment.
  • Accurately processes payments in the form of cash, credit, or debit cards.
  • Assists customers with questions, price discrepancies, returns, and exchanges in accordance with store policy.
  • Provides product knowledge, answers questions about pet care items, and helps customers locate merchandise.
  • Works as part of a team to ensure customers and pets receive the best service possible.
  • Bags, boxes, and wraps purchased items neatly and securely.
  • Maintains a clean and organized checkout area.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
