About The Position

SunState Medical Specialists (SMS) is proud to be a part of OneOncology in delivering exceptional, community-based specialty care across Florida. With a team of 105 physicians spanning urology, radiation oncology, medical oncology, breast surgery, general surgery, and head and neck surgery, SMS is committed to providing high-quality, accessible care. Our practice continues to expand services by offering advanced radiation therapies, in-house pharmacy and laboratory capabilities, care management, theranostics, cutting-edge diagnostic imaging, and clinical research. We are dedicated to recruiting top-tier physicians to help increase access to affordable, high-quality care throughout the state. In all of our centers, the first point of contact for our patients is the Front Desk Receptionist. As first impressions are lasting, it is imperative that our personnel portray patience, understanding, and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Ability to maintain a cheerful, positive and respectful attitude
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Good telephone, computer, and typing skills
  • High School graduate or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ year experience as medical receptionist preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of patient's chart: Patient demographics
  • Maintenance of patient's chart: Billing information
  • Maintenance of patient's chart: Copy photo I.D. and insurance card
  • Maintenance of patient's chart: Obtain necessary consent form signatures, including HIPAA policy
  • Verification of Insurance Benefits: Benefits are confirmed through electronic or phone contact with the insurance provider for every patient encounter
  • Verification of Insurance Benefits: Eligibility and financial responsibility information must be communicated clearly to patients
  • Verification of Insurance Benefits: Benefit information is documented in the patient record
  • Assist with Patient Collections: Daily chart prep will include identifying patient financial responsibility for each visit and any outstanding balances due
  • Assist with Patient Collections: Assist with patient questions regarding billing and insurance payments
  • Schedule patient appointments: New and follow up appointments within the practice
  • Schedule patient appointments: Consultation appointment referrals
  • Assist with incoming phone calls: Manage incoming calls and transfer appropriately
  • Assist with incoming phone calls: Take complete and accurate messages and ensure message delivery in a timely manner
