About The Position

The Front Desk position at Ogden Courtyard involves representing the hotel to guests throughout their stay, ensuring a smooth check-in and check-out process, and providing exceptional customer service. The role requires adherence to hotel policies and procedures while effectively communicating with guests and other departments to enhance the guest experience.

Requirements

  • Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time as customary in a hotel front office environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • High School diploma or GED desired.
  • Previous experience in a hotel environment or customer service required.

Responsibilities

  • Register guests and assign rooms.
  • Accommodate special requests whenever possible.
  • Assist in pre-registration and blocking of rooms for reservations.
  • Understand and adhere to proper credit, check-cashing, and cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Know room locations, types of rooms available, and room rates.
  • Be sales-minded and present options and alternatives to guests.
  • Use suggestive selling techniques to sell rooms and promote other hotel services.
  • Work closely with the housekeeping department to keep room status reports up to date and coordinate maintenance requests.
  • Use proper telephone etiquette.
  • Perform cashiering tasks like bill settlement and posting charges to guests.
  • Communicate services and amenities of the hotel to guests.
  • Obtain proper identification for tax-exempt guests and attach the form to the registration card.
  • Read and initial the pass-on log and bulletin board daily.
  • Be aware of daily activities and meetings taking place in the hotel.
  • Attend department meetings.
  • Report any unusual occurrences or requests to the manager or assistant manager.
  • Know all safety and emergency procedures and be aware of accident prevention policies.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and neatness of the front desk area.
  • Perform other duties as necessary and assigned by management.
