As the welcoming face of the John Boner Neighborhood Centers (JBNC), the Front Desk Receptionist plays a vital role in creating a warm, inclusive, and organized environment where every neighbor feels seen, supported, and respected. This position is at the heart of the Center's daily operations-connecting visitors to programs, supporting staff communication, and setting the tone for every person who walks through our doors. JBNC is entering an exciting stage of renewed organization and collaboration, and we're looking for someone who's eager to bring structure, positivity, and genuine care to our front desk experience.

  • Greet neighbors arriving for appointments and assist with their needs.
  • Help visitors fax important documents and guide them through the enrollment process for community programs.
  • Answer calls and direct visitors appropriately.
  • Keep the lobby and resource room organized, ensuring materials and technology are accessible and up to date.
  • Collaborate closely with program staff to stay informed about upcoming events and available resources.
  • Proactively share information with neighbors to help them find what they need.
  • De-escalate situations and maintain positive interactions during tense moments.
  • Strong customer service instincts and a commitment to treating everyone with dignity and respect.
  • Ability to manage fast-paced or emotionally charged moments with calm confidence.
  • Organizational skills and a proactive approach to keeping informed about departmental activities.
  • Comfort with using technology and digital tools such as Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Empathy and patience to assist individuals facing challenges.
  • $18 hourly compensation
